Hand Me Down
An Introduction
I had always wanted to write a story about Jason and Elizabeth and their kids in the future. I think there’s something challenging about creating a family life for characters you see on the screen because you have to write kids that would be part of this family without sounding like they were found under a bush. I also wanted to write a Johnny and Nadine story, so this was a great way to stick them in there without having to worry much about how to get them together.
In order to fully appreciate and enjoy this story, you must understand that while it does focus on some couples and romance, this is not a Jason and Elizabeth story. They are in the first story, they are in the second and the third, but it is an ensemble story and as it progresses, their role is reduced. As with any soap opera, eventually the next generation inherits the screen. So please do not start this story looking for a Liason story. You will be disappointed.
This story takes place over many years — beginning in 2024 and ending up in 2060. I know. Seriously. It travels back and forth, at least in the first story, to fill in the gaps between 2008 and 2024. The show stops for me on April 4, 2008. This is the day that Michael is shot and Jason proposed to Elizabeth. Everything that happened on the show up to that point happened. Some things that happened afterwards did happen, but I won’t be specific now. It will be noted in the story.
Other than that, please enjoy the story. It’s one of my favorites and I think it’s unlike most things that are out there. Except for Mean, the universe’s sister story.
